LOS ANGELES, January 31, 2018 – Some 85 guests attended Hillsides’ gala sponsor reception on Tuesday, January 30 at a chateau-style estate in Pasadena. The evening featured a replica of the Eiffel Tower, a French specialty cocktail, and French-styled appetizers to match the theme of this year's upcoming gala, La Nuit des Rêves, which will be held on February 24 at the Langham Huntington, Pasadena. The gala name translates into The Night of Dreams.
The event was as an opportunity for Hillsides to thank the many generous gala sponsors. The proceeds of the gala, which is the charity’s largest fundraiser of the year, benefit the 14,000 children, youth, and families that Hillsides serves throughout Southern California.
Major sponsors of the gala include Mario and Shelly Fiumani – Pin USA, Jacob Maarse Florists, Kaiser Permanente, Rusnak Auto Group, Sherm and Marge Telleen, The Havner Family Foundation, The Walt Disney Company, Western Asset Management, and Willis Towers Watson.
During the evening, Hillsides President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph M. Costa introduced the gala co-chairs, long-time Hillsides’ supporters Joan McCarthy and John Gong, thanking them for their leadership. Next, McCarthy spoke, emphasizing the importance of the event. “We are making dreams come true for the children,” she said. “I want this gala to be fun, but we must remember, it’s for the kids.”
The gala sponsor reception was co-sponsored by the International Buddhist Peaceful Enlightenment, Inc. During the reception, in an unexpected and welcome surprise, the organization announced its decision to become a gala sponsor.
