(April 13, 2016, PASADENA, CA)  The Hillsides Guild annual A Day at the Races event at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia held on April 10 was an across-the-board winner, raising $17,430 for Hillsides. More than 125 supporters enjoyed a day of lunch and horse racing while benefitting the 103-year-old charity. The Hillsides Guild is a support group of Hillsides.  This year’s event was hosted by Guild members Astrid Fishbein and Cathy Brennan.  Brennan will be the 2016-2017 Guild president and is currently serving as membership chair.

(March 31, 2016, PASADENA, CA) Hillsides, a premier provider of child welfare services headquartered in Pasadena, has been awarded a $4,500 grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA).  The funds will be used for the Music Education Program at Hillsides

(PASADENA,CA, March 31, 2016) Stephanie Castillo hasn’t lived at Hillsides for more than 20 years. Yet it still feels like home. When she visits, which she does regularly, she makes sure to see one person in particular: childcare counselor Lucy Garabedian.    “Lucy was the first person to nurture me,” says Castillo, 38, who lived at Hillsides Pasadena Residential Treatment Services program between the ages of 10 and 15. “I consider her my mom.”

(March 16, 2016, PASADENA, CA)  Hillsides is lucky to have a local poet, Ashaki M. Jackson, working with the high school seniors at Hillsides Education Center during a five-week poetry workshop.  The program is supported by Poets & Writers, Inc., the nation's largest nonprofit literary organization serving poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers.

Family Resource Centers offer numerous community-based programs and services that provide parenting classes, mental health support, and additional crucial resources for vulnerable children and families throughout Los Angeles County, including the San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena. >
Residential Treatment Services provide a safe and stable environment where children and youths, who cannot live at home, suffered trauma, or have severe emotional or behavioral challenges, can thrive. >
Education Center, a therapeutic residential and day school, offers individualized education for students with social-emotional, learning and/or behavior challenges for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. >
Youth Moving On, with support from The Everychild Foundation, provides former foster youth affordable quality housing and numerous support services to help them become responsible, self-sufficient adults. >
