At Hillsides the focus is on creating a warm, loving environment where children can feel secure enough to rebuild hope for the future. A 95-year children's charity, Hillsides is a treatment center for abused and neglected children who have been referred to us after being in multiple foster care homes and it is clear that they require more treatment. To insure adequate individual attention and care, each child is assigned a social worker possessing a high degree of training and sensitivity. The personal involvement of a highly trained professional is vital to each child's recovery.
The nurturing and caring participation of our seasoned staff reaches beyond our 17-acre campus and into the arms of the community. Highly functioning youth are moved into group homes that are based in the community. Two off-campus group homes house 12 troubled teenagers, ages 14 through 18, and offer residential treatment, mental health care and practical skills training for independent living after emancipation. The group homes recreate a positive family atmosphere and are conveniently located near public transportation, schools and community activity centers.
