Hillsides Annual Gala to Benefit Children, Youth, and Families

Sara Jennings Serves as Gala Chair of An Evening at Monarch Grove

LOS ANGELES – January 20, 2023 – Hillsides, a nonprofit focused on children and youth mental health services and foster care and adoption, will host its annual fundraising gala Saturday, February 25, 2023, at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles. This year’s event, An Evening at Monarch Grove, is chaired by longstanding Hillsides supporter, Sara Jennings.

The annual gala is an opportunity for community members, allies, and advocates to come together and learn how Hillsides heals children and strengthens families, while raising funds that are vital to provide the best quality of care.

This year’s theme, An Evening at Monarch Grove, was inspired by the clusters of beautiful butterflies that flock to the sanctuaries along California’s Central Coast each year. They migrate there to connect to community, spread their wings, and flutter exquisitely in their very own way.

“Similar to the majestic monarch, there is a transformation that happens at Hillsides in individuals, families, and communities that results in lasting change – a metamorphosis. Because monarch butterflies symbolize transformation, strength, endurance, and rebirth, they are a perfect symbol to celebrate Hillsides,” remarked Sara Jennings, who serves as Marketing and Communications Manager at Kidspace Children’s Museum. “Hillsides walks alongside children and families, not only celebrating the beauty at the end of the process, but also what it takes to get there.”

Sara first began to support Hillsides in 2015 and is honored to serve as gala chair this year. “I am compelled by love to live a life of service to others. It enriches my life to be a part of a community that’s full of hope and seeking to make the world a better place. I learn so much from the people I serve alongside and from the stories of triumph over the challenges of life.”

An Evening at Monarch Grove will feature a cocktail reception, special guest speaker, dinner, special musical performances, and a live auction hosted by Fritz Coleman. The gala committee’s goal is to raise funds to support Hillsides’ core programs: Bienvenidos Foster Care and Adoption, Hillsides and Bienvenidos Family Resource Centers, HillsidesCares, Hillsides Youth Moving On / Peer Resource Center and Residential Treatment Services.
