LOS ANGELES, March 26, 2019 – Hillsides, a foster care and mental health charity, has expanded its presence in East Los Angeles. On March 21, the agency hosted an Open House to introduce the community to the Bienvenidos Family Resource Center, East Los Angeles, located at 5400 E. Olympic Blvd. Some 80 guests enjoyed light refreshments, a slide show presentation, and a short program led by Hillsides President and CEO Joseph M. Costa. During the event, representatives from Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis’ office presented Hillsides with a special commendation.

Bienvenidos, an affiliate of Hillsides, has been in the East Los Angeles community for more than 30 years, but recently moved offices to consolidate services and gain more space and treatment rooms. The new location, which serves some 500 clients, offers mental health services, school-based services, a family preservation program to keep families together, and wraparound services that provide team-based support for children with mental health needs.

Project SAFE-LA, an HIV, Hepatitis C, and substance abuse prevention program for youth ages 13 – 24 who live in East Los Angeles, is also housed at the location. In the future, the office will also expand its services to transition-aged youth ages 16 – 25.
