LOS ANGELES, July 11, 2019 -- Hillsides, a Southern California foster care and mental health charity, has opened a Bienvenidos Family Resource Center in Palmdale. The center, which serves the entire Antelope Valley, offers Family Preservation services.
Family Preservation helps prevent a child’s placement out of the home and ensures a child’s safety within the home. The program also rehabilitates families so they can function more successfully. The Hillsides Palmdale location is only one of two agencies offering Family Preservation services in the area.
“We are very excited to offer residents of the Antelope Valley these much-needed services,” said Hillsides President and CEO Joseph M. Costa. “Hillsides, along with its affiliate Bienvenidos, now offers mental health support in seven locations throughout California, stretching from Pomona to the new location in Palmdale.”
The seven Hillsides and Bienvenidos Family Resource Centers are located in Arcadia, Baldwin Park, East Los Angeles, Echo Park, Palmdale, Pomona, and South Pasadena. Services at each Family Resource Center vary, but can include individual, family, and group therapy, parenting groups, case management, and crisis intervention, among other programs. In addition, the Family Resource Centers provide comprehensive school-based mental health services for children and their families in the East San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles, Montebello, Pico Rivera, and Pasadena.
Hillsides Family Resource Centers are one of Hillsides five core programs, which also includes Bienvenidos Foster Care and Adoption; Hillsides Education Center, an accredited therapeutic non-public school; a short-term therapeutic residential treatment program for children unable to live at home; and Youth Moving On, which offers a continuum of support for transition-aged youth 16 – 25.
