LOS ANGELES, May 2, 2018 – The LA5 Rotary Club of Los Angeles has awarded Hillsides a grant of $10,690 for its Youth Moving On workforce development program.  The funds will be used for workforce training and internships for youth formerly in foster care or probation.

Hillsides is one of five charities to receive a Fast 5 Community Grant supporting youth programs that promote education and leadership development to help end homelessness.  At a recent luncheon, each charity gave a five-minute presentation.  Afterwards, the Rotarians submitted mobile votes for their favorite charity.

“Workforce development is key to helping youth who have been in the foster care system transition to successful adulthood, and we are very grateful to have received one of the five grants,” said Hillsides President and CEO Joseph M. Costa. “These funds will have a direct and immediate impact on the youth and their futures.”

The four other charities awarded grants were Jovenes, Inc., School on Wheels, Safe Place for Youth, and My Friends Place.

Hillsides Youth Moving On program offers a continuum of support services for transition-aged youth 16– 25 that includes a Peer Resource drop-in center, housing services, and workforce development. For more information, please visit www.youthmovingon.org.
