A Brighter Vision for Hillsides in 2021

Like so many of you, we ushered in 2021 with a renewed sense of hope and yearning for a better year. We appreciate all of you who have stood by us as we navigated some major operational and programmatic changes due to the pandemic. We could not have gotten through 2020 without your support and our clients have let us know how grateful they are for Hillsides during such a challenging year.

How do we do this? As an essential service provider, Hillsides continues to operate many of our client-facing services throughout the pandemic, including our residential care facility and much of the client outreach we do as part of our Family Resource Centers and our Bienvenidos Foster Care and Adoption program. We also provide essential support to youth ages 16-25 who are among the hardest hit in the pandemic with revised office hours in our Peer Resource Center, where our Youth Moving On program is housed. And we have moved whatever services we could online while offering extended support to our most vulnerable clients who were dealing with job losses and technology needs due to the pandemic. Click here to read about our COVID-related office hours and guidelines.

We are happy to report that a vast majority of our staff have received COVID-19 vaccines due to our standing as an essential service provider, which gives us hope that many of our operations will be able to return to “normal” soon. What “normal” will be remains to be seen but we will work hard to care for our clients at the same high quality levels and learn from the challenges we have experienced from the pandemic. Hugs just might be in order, along with a tremendous amount of appreciation and gratitude for how they weathered this storm.

What we cannot predict is the financial fallout of a pandemic like this, but we are bracing for major income shortages that are forecast from our government partners, some funders and many of our supporters. Without a doubt, we will have to do more with less but we have discovered just how resilient we can be thanks to this past year and we know we will get through the hard times with the help of people like you. Today more than ever, we need your help to ensure Hillsides is able to provide critical programs for our community. Donate here.

Thank you to everyone who supported us through this challenging year. Our clients are forever grateful for your support and the hope you provide.

With profound gratitude,

Stacey R. Roth
President and CEO
